Small Business Feature - Arati Devasher

This week I’m featuring one of our amazing customers for our small business Friday. Arati Devasher creates unique pieces of hand-painted wearable art from the softest silk she can source. About the Business

Arati Devasher creates silk accessories and elegant jewelry that she believes can “instantly elevate your look from chic to dapper”.

All my silks – scarves, kerchiefs, ties, and jewelry – are color-fast 100% silk and can be hand-washed. No dry-cleaning required! Hand-sewn hems are a feature of the scarves and pocket squares, adding a touch of luxury. Everything is beautifully packaged, ready to gift.

I do my best to make sure that I remain eco-friendly and sustainably sourced. My silk is currently sourced via British and EU suppliers from China (which is still the best producer of top quality silk). All my dyes, wax, packaging, tools, office supplies and materials are eco-friendly and responsibly sourced; electricity and water use is kept to a minimum.

Every single piece is individually hand painted by me, using hot wax and dye on pure white silk. I’ve combined my Indian heritage with a modern aesthetic fuelled by my training as a graphic designer and my scarves, ties and jewelry feature repetitive pattern, with vibrant colors bringing them to life. They can be worn with plain colors as well as combined with other bold patterns.
